📖 About the Department

Oral Pathology and Microbiology is the branch of dentistry concerned with diagnosis of diseases by clinical, radiographic, biochemical, and microscopic examination. Cases such as mucosal lesions, oral infections, premalignancies, malignancies, and oral manifestations of systemic diseases are reviewed for confirmed diagnosis and referred for treatment. The department adopts a multidisciplinary approach with Oral Diagnosis and Oral Surgery for better patient outcomes.

The department plays a vital role in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students. It handles subjects like Oral Anatomy, Histology, Oral Pathology, and Microbiology across different years. It offers a postgraduate program approved by RUHS and the Dental Council of India, admitting 3 PG students per year for 3 years.

Facilities include separate UG & PG sections, histopathology and immunohistochemistry labs, museum, seminar room, and library. The department is well-equipped for teaching, diagnostics, and research with advanced tools like research microscopes, image analysis software, centrifuge, paraffin embedding, and tissue processing units.
